This workshop will guide you through the techniques to handstand & backbend like a master.

Time: Sat 2-5pm, Sun 9am-12pm/1-4pm

Workshop Options & Descriptions:

Saturday – Foundations of Handstand (3 hrs)
Build your upside-down practice from the ground up. We’ll cover wrist and shoulder prep, alignment, wall drills, and how to safely kick up and hold. Ideal for beginners or anyone refining the fundamentals.

Sunday Morning, Handstand Progressions, Shapes, and Creative Variations (3 hrs)
Explore dynamic entries and exits, endurance holds, leg variations, breaking down technique, and the use of yoga props to accelerate handstand progress. Expect strength drills, creative entries, and tools for advancing your practice.

Sunday Afternoon, Backbending & Spine Awakening (3 hrs)
Unlock your backbends with mobility-based preparation, technique from basic contortion, and support work. This session blends active flexibility, shoulder opening, hip extension, and spinal awareness, perfect for yogis looking to go deeper safely and sustainably. Modifications and options for all levels will be provided.

 

About John:
John Lizcano is an international yoga and movement educator specialising in handbalancing, flexibility, and functional mobility. With a background in circus, gymnastics, and yoga, he brings a playful yet precise approach to teaching. Based in Bangkok, John leads workshops and trainings across Asia and online through his platform Urban Yoga Studio.
